Session will begin at 10.30am for all squad members.
The squad session will consist of kata and kumite.
Remember, no piercings, jewellery, mitts and gum shields are compulsory.

This session will accommodate new squad members as we would like to create a development squad. Students must know what squas sessions are about before attending. If students don’t attend a fair proportion of squad sessions then their name will be removed from the squad list and they will be informed.
Today’s session welcomed squad and new members to the squad.
It was a basic kata session impressing the importance of correct stances, transitions and timing. Also the importance of being concious of what you are doing when you practice aiming at a 75-80% correct performance.
Kumite session looked at distancing, counter attacking and defensive techniques.

IKKI Squads
Students aspiring to Itosu-kai squads are those karateka who wish to further their skills, knowledge and ability. Separate kata and kumite squad sessions take place at various locations and times. The purpose of squad training is to allow students in our clubs the opportunity to further their skills in either kata, kumite or both. Squad sessions are separate to club karate sessions and the aim is to give additional specific tuition to students from participating IKKI clubs more intense training. There is a standard of practice required to join the IKKI squads recognised by IKKI club Sensei’s. At squad sessions, besides learning new drills and practicing, squad coaches will emphasise the importance of the mental and physical aspects of training.
